Crew Member Dies on 'Lone Ranger' Set

Sad news out of Disney's "The Lone Ranger" today, as the studio confirms that a crewmember working on the producer died during today's shoot.

"We regretfully confirm that a Lone Ranger crewmember has passed away after being taken to a local hospital," said Disney in a statement. "Our hearts and thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time, and our full support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this terrible event."

The crewmember, who remains unnamed, was reportedly prepping for an underwater sequence and somehow drowned. He was part of the production team and not a stunt performer. As of yet, there are few other details about the accident.

The production has suffered a number of setbacks, and Johnny Depp even injured himself during a horseback riding stunt, but an accident this serious is rare, even on these stunt-heavy productions.

More details as the story develops.
