Could Love be in the Air on 'The Big Bang Theory'? Raj just may find his true love after all!

It was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that Kate Micucci has been cast as Raj’s potential new love interest.

Kate Micucci is a familiar face in the sitcom world, but you may recognize her from her roles as Shelley in “Raising Hope” and Gooch in “Scrubs”, and as half of the comedy duo of Garfunkel and Oates.

Not much is known about the plot surrounding her character. The producers are keeping it under wraps for now, but we do know that she has been signed on for a multiple episode story arc to play Lucy, a potential love interest for Raj.

Lucy is set to make her debut in the Valentine’s Day episode titled “The Tangible Affection Proof”, appropriately airing on February 14th.

Since Howard has gotten married, Raj has been increasingly desperate to fill the “large hole of loneliness”. The showrunner Steve Molaro warns, however, that “love interest is a strong word.” He continues, “[Raj] will continue to try and plug that hole, though not necessarily romantically.”

Given Raj’s history with women, and his almost crippling shyness, how will Lucy and Raj interact? Will copious amounts of alcohol be involved? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

And speaking of love…

It was hinted at by Johnny Galecki that the Valentine’s Day episode will be a “big one for Leonard and Penny – there might be somebody getting down on one knee,” he teased.
