Coroner Completes Whitney Houston Autopsy

Coroner Completes Whitney Houston Autopsy With just hours remaining before the 54th Grammy Awards and a planned tribute to the late Whitney Houston by Chaka Khan and Jennifer Hudson, TMZ reports that the Los Angeles County coroner has completed Houston's autopsy.

Though the examination has been completed, it will be another standard four to six weeks before toxicology results return and an official cause of death can be announced. The 48-year-old Houston was found dead Saturday afternoon submerged in her Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room's bathtub, according to TMZ and other outlets. Police reportedly found no illegal drugs in Houston's room, but confiscated bottles containing multiple prescription pills, including Xanax.

The six-time Grammy winner had been photographed Friday evening exiting a nightclub, looking disoriented, cut-up and bloody. She was also filmed, in what appears to be her last public performance, singing a raspy "Yes, Jesus Loves Me" duet alongside friend Kelly Price at Price's pre-Grammy party Friday evening. Houston's representatives confirmed last May that she had entered a third drug-and-alcohol rehabilitation stint.

TMZ also reports, with a photo to back it up, that both Houston's on-again, off-again boyfriend Ray J and 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown were turned away at the scene by police. Bobbi Kristina is Houston's only child be ex-husband Bobby Brown, to whom the singer was married from 1992 to 2007.

Houston was pronounced dead at approximately 6:55 PM ET Saturday, shortly before she was to attend a pre-Grammy party thrown by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Arista Records founder and Houston's long-time friend and mentor Clive Davis. After learning of Houston's death, an announcement was made at the party - from which Davis had since excused himself - that Hudson and Khan would pay tribute to Houston during tonight's live telecast.
