Accident During 'Fear Factor' Shoot

Accident During 'Fear Factor' Shoot Well....huh.

This always astonished me about "Fear Factor." Over its original six-season run, the show produced 142 total episodes and for all the grotesque things people consumed and insane stunts performed for a chance to do the greenback boogie in prime-time, there was hardly a major safety blemish.

It's been almost a month since NBC announced the show would soon return, and already, TMZ reports that a vehicular accident leaves a contestant with minor injuries but barely so much as a hitch in the shooting schedule.

The contestant was riding atop a stunt truck when the driver briefly lost some of his field of vision and struck a parked car. Fortunately, Team Fear Factor does take these possibilities into consideration: she was wearing a safety harness, and the driver had kept his speed under 20 MPH.

As a result, the contestant was never thrown off the vehicle, but the tumble shook her up enough that she visited a local hospital. She was released a few hours later, and the show will resume shooting this week.

Seriously, why did it take this long?

The first stunt of each show has always been some insane feat that tests each individual/team's physical prowess, like leaping from building-to-building, or from speeding car-to-speeding car. For all the safety precautions, it's both a wonder and a testament to the thorough safety checks that nothing went much more wrong than this much, much sooner.

The second-round stunts were the ones that became infamous, with tests like laying in a tub of live snakes or retrieving something from a big bowl of rats, spiders or anything else that often carries the heebie-jeebies in bulk.

Best of all, the third stunt would almost always involve contestants imitating some stunt that was inspired by something trained/insane professionals performed in some well-known action movie, like escaping a car that had been driven into a swimming pool and started to sink.

But in tribute to the show returning soon, complete once more with stand-up comedian and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, I present to you my own personal favorite "Fear Factor" moment:
