Complete 2012 MTV Movie Awards Nominations Revealed
by Sean ComerTonys, schmonies. Only one award-nominations announcement matters today, and that's the one that includes hopefuls for Best On-Screen Dirtbag, damn it.
With the Golden Popcorn nominees announced today, voting on the 2012 MTV Movie Awards has officially opened at MovieAwards.MTV.com and stays open until June 2. "The Hunger Games" and "Bridesmaids" each earned eight nominations, and actually go toe-to-toe in a few categories including Movie of the Year, Best Female Performance (Kristin Wiig versus Jennifer Lawrence), Breakthrough Performance (Melissa McCarthy versus Liam Hemsworth) and Best Cast.
"The Hunger Games" also got nods in the Best Male Performance category (Josh Hutcherson), Best Fight (Lawrence & Hutcherson versus Alexander Ludwig), Best On-Screen Transformation (Elizabeth Banks) and Best Kiss (Lawrence and Hutcherson). "Bridesmaids" meanwhile also received nominations for Wiig and McCarthy in Best Comedic Performance, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance and Best On-Screen Dirtbag (Jon Hamm).
Meanwhile, "21 Jump Street" and "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2" each received six nominations.
