'Community' Casting: John Goodman and Omar from 'The Wire' Join

'Community' Casting: John Goodman and Omar from 'The Wire' Join Season three of "Community" is about to get a little more hilarious. The news from creator Dan Harmon is that the cast will be joined by John Goodman and Michael K. Williams in the new season, both of whom could stay on for multi-episode arcs.

Williams is best known for his role as Omar in HBO's "The Wire," a totally badass (and terrifying) character who could scare even drug dealers. He'll be joining the cast as the new biology professor, which might seem like a big change in character at first, but the word is that the gang is going to have some trouble in Bio...so it looks like Williams could be a villain again.

Goodman will also be joining as a villain, as it is revealed that Greendale Community College has a separate annex for its most popular program (which is air conditioning repair...love it!) headed up by a vice dean played by Goodman.

With Jim Rash (who plays Dean Pelton) promoted to a series regular, he should find himself facing off against Goodman, which just by their respective sizes alone should be pretty hilarious.

Goodman might be the biggest guest star yet on "Community," and will hopefully draw in some more viewers to this excellent show. Don't let the lack of Emmy nominations fool you...this program is as good as any out there. How could you not love a show that welcomes its cast and crew back to the set with this banner:
