'Community': The Beetlejuice Joke That Took 3 Years to Tell

'Community': The Beetlejuice Joke That Took 3 Years to Tell There are plenty of reasons to keep the currently benched "Community" on the air. Great characters, snappy writing, new and original methods of storytelling, and the fact that the cast is just so darned cute are all good arguments for keeping the show alive.

But a recent revelation from showrunner Dan Harmon might be the single best example of why this show needs to stick around. It's a joke that took three years to tell.

Harmon and the rest of his team is a big fan of hiding "easter eggs," or details that reference past events in the show, within "Community" episodes. These hidden gems give the show's hardcore fan base something to look for, or a reason to re-watch old episodes.

This is the mother of all easter eggs.

Over the show's three seasons, there have been three seemingly unreleated "Beetlejuice" jokes. And you know what happens when you say "Beetlejuice" three times, don't you?

Check out the video below, which collects short clips from episodes 1.16, 2.08 and 3.05, culminating in perhaps the most patient, slow-played jokes in TV history. Oh, and #SaveCommunity.
