Cobie Smulders Hints Her Return to 'S.H.I.E.L.D.'
by Shannon KeirnanWill Cobie Smulders be hanging up her role as Robin Scherbatsky and slipping into some tighter costume pants?
Smulders is rumored to be appearing in the upcoming “S.H.I.E.L.D.” television show, in works with ABC, but the “How I Met Your Mother” actress remained vague about whether or not she would be signing on for sure.
“ I can’t really say, but there are definite talks about it," she hinted.
However she did reassure us, "The commitments to ['How I Met Your Mother'] don’t affect it.”
Whew! Since “How I Met Your Mother” has been locked down, last-minute, for a final ninth season, it would be a shame to lose a major cast member on the CBS hit.
Smulder will be returning as Maria Hill in the upcoming “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” reuniting with Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, and Scarlett Johansson.
The slated “The Avengers 2” will also bring together many members of the beloved movies.
The “S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot will be directed by Joss Whedon and set in the universe the Marval movies have established. So far, Clark Gregg is reprising his “Avengers,” etc., role as Agent Coulson. Also on cast is “ER” star Ming Na-Wen.
"It's new characters. It needs to be its own thing. It needs to be adjacent but you don't want to do a show where you're constantly going, 'Iron Man just left, but he was totally here a minute ago,’” explained Whedon.
What do you think of the upcoming “S.H.I.E.L.D.?” Is Marvel hitting the success of their “Avengers” just a bit too hard with the series… or are you counting down the days until its premiere?
