Cindy McCain Calls Gwyneth Paltrow 'a Joke' for Comparing Celebrity Pressure to War

We get it. Being a celebrity can be really hard. You're constantly under public scrutiny, you have paparazzi following you everywhere, yelling terrible things at you, and relationships that would otherwise thrive can be ruined by outside forces.

But you're not a prisoner of war.

That's the comparison Gwyneth "I own a $900 hoodie" Paltrow tried to make while speaking at a conference earlier this week, and boy, did it not go over well. Specifically, Paltrow was talking about the effects of being bullied online.

"It's almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it," Paltrow said. One person in particular took great offense to that statement: Cindy McCain, whose husband and sons served in the military.

"Gweneth Paltrow is a joke" McCain tweeted. "Her life is like taking bullets for a soldier. What a joke! My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her."

McCain continued her Twitter rant. "Perhaps Gweneth Paltrow should go out on patrol with some soldiers. Kind of like a Red Carpet in her mind I guess!"

McCain, whose husband John McCain was a prisoner of war during his military career, might be taking it all a little too personally. Perhaps she hasn't had as much exposure to Paltrow's extraordinarily out of touch musings and doesn't realize that this isn't too surprising a statement from the "Iron Man 3" actress.

Paltrow, who hasn't tweeted since McCain's rant, has yet to respond to the controversy.
