Chris Pratt in Talks to Play 'Indiana Jones' In New Franchise Reboot
by Andy Neuenschwander
Star-Lord might be making a jump back to the 1940's.
According to sources, Disney is considering a new "Indiana Jones" reboot, and they're targeting "Parks & Recreation" star Chris Pratt to play the whip-wielding, Nazi-fighting archeologist.
Though Pratt built a career playing the schlubby Andy Dwyer on "Parks & Rec," the past two years have been huge for his career: He starred in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" and landed a leading role in the upcoming "Jurassic World."
Pratt is quickly becoming Hollywood's go-to guy for action roles that require some comedy, and considering his performance in "Guardians," that's no surprise. As for Disney, it has been moving fast on the various Lucasfilm properties it picked up, appealing to nostalgia with a new series of "Star Wars" films and moving forward with a new Indiana Jones project.
The project is very early on and Pratt is not yet attached, but Indiana Jones is a very particular role in terms of type and one has to wonder if Hollywood has anyone else with the right mix of youth, wisdom, good looks and wisecracking to handle it. Pratt will have a busy schedule with Marvel moving forward on a "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel and likely featuring Star-Lord in other Marvel films, so it might not just be up to Pratt's willingness to take the role.
Already, though, fans have put together a preview of what Pratt as Jones will look like, and we like what we see:
