Actors from 'True Blood' and 'The Wire' to Take on Zombies in 'Remains' Hmmm.

Telling a zombie fanatic that this next news bit is consolation for "The Walking Dead" possibly having dropped in its tracks would be a little like telling telling somebody, "Sorry, but Coca-Cola has gone out of business. But cheer up! There's always RC Cola!"

But hey, beggars can't be choosers. So here's another TV project torn from the pages of a zombie-centric graphic novel.

Chiller has started production in Mystic, CT on their second movie of 2011, an adaptation of "30 Days of Night" graphic novel author Steven Niles' "Remains."

The zombie survival yarn brings together veterans of a number of smash-hit TV shows, including Grant Bowler ("True Blood," "Ugly Betty), Lance Reddick ("Fringe," "Lost" and "The Wire"), Miko Hughes (the film "Pet Sematary") and Tawny Cypress ("Rescue Me," "Heroes"). "Remains" comes hot on the heels of Chiller's first 2011 movie following the recently wrapped production on "Ghoul," starring Nathan Gould of ABC's "Modern Family."

The story is one of survival in post-apocalyptic Reno, NV following an accident that reduces most of the world's population to mindless walking dead. Though the troupe of survivors battles off the zombies successfully for a bit from an abandoned casino, the flesh-eaters grow not just more intelligent with time but stronger and angrier.

There's one more movie on Chiller's plate this year after "Remains" finishes up, but Chiller has not yet announced the title. Shortly after the movies make their bow on the limited-availability horror/suspense/sci-fi network, the network will premier "Chiller 13: Horror's Creepiest Kids."
