Cheryl Cole Confirmed as Judge on 'The X Factor'

Cheryl Cole Confirmed as Judge on 'The X Factor' It's official, the new judge for "The X Factor" is Cheryl What's-Her-Face.

We kid. Fox announced today that Cheryl Cole, the British songstress and judge from the UK version of "The X Factor" will officially be judging the new U.S.-based show alongside Simon Cowell and uber-producer L.A. Reid.

Cole is herself a talent born from reality TV. She got her start as part of the girl group Girls Aloud, which competed on the British show "Pop Stars The Rivals," and has gone on to become a stunning success -  producing two #1 albums on the UK charts: "Three Words" and "Messy Little Raindrops." Her songs are pure chart-driven pop, and she's got the pretty face and hard body to complete the easily digestible package.

As Yidio reported a couple weeks ago, Cowell worked with Cole on the British version of "The X Factor," where she's been a big hit with Brits.

"I never think about it as an American or British audience. I genuinely don’t. I think that’s what's happened on a lot of these shows now is it's almost like you’ve got to hire well known celebrities to be a judge. And with Cheryl, when I hired her initially, I'd only met her literally once when I offered her the job on  'The [British] X Factor'. I thought she was bright, cute, knew what she was talking about, ambitious. And you meet someone special a few times in your life... And this girl is special," said Cowell.

On the official signing of Cole on the show for his latest U.S. venture, Cowell says:

“I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with. She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”

Cole said of her new judging gig, “I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of 'The X Factor'. I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started."

“I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this," said Cole.

Weirdly enough, Cole suffered from malaria in 2010, and has since recovered - apparently enough to give Simon Cowell a heaping ration of crap. Expect a lot more of that as the show hits the air this September.
