Caution: Quoting 'Game of Thrones' May Constitute Terrorism According to the New York Daily News, a college professor in New Jersey was been suspended because of a T-shirt that features a quote from “Game of Thrones.” The quote in question is attributable to Daenerys Targaryen, who apparently is considered a threat to the safety of the campus of Bergen Community College.

The Daily News reports that art professor Francis Schmidt shared a photo with his Google+ contacts which shows his seven-year-old daughter wearing a shirt that says “I will take what is mine with fire & blood.” The quote refers to Daenerys' vow to gain the throne of Westeros, but college officials interpreted the photo as a threat—overlooking the facts that the girl has no direct connection to the school nor, it can be presumed, access to dragons with which she could carry out the “threat.”

Administrators suspended Schmidt for eight days, visit a psychiatrist, and “promise to avoid wearing clothes with ‘questionable statements.’” He was eventually reinstated and given back pay, but one hopes that he learned his lesson and will never again take a photo that implies that he might use a child and her fire-breathing dragons to lay waste to a college campus.
