'Catching Fire' Character Portraits are Both Beautiful and Revealing!
by Shannon KeirnanWith the release of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” getting nearer, Lionsgate has been releasing a steady stream of images to tease and excite waiting fans.
This round is a collection of really lovely character portraits, which give us a glimpse of some of the fashions (and new characters) we can expect in the film.
Making their return appearances are Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinkey, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Lenny Kravitz as Cinna.
Especially beautiful (and symbolic) is the dress sported by Lawrence as Katniss. The silver wing design is also carefully constructed to hide a Mockingjay image.
New characters also make their debute. Jena Malone is notable as the ruthless Johanna Mason. The character makes her first appearance in “Catching Fire” but remains an important feature in the rest of the series. In her gown, Malone manages to look fierce and strong as well as lovely.
Jeffrey Wright also joins as the brilliant Beetee, quiet-seeming in his chair.
The sequel to the wildly popular “Hunger Games” “beginsas Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”
The movie is set to be released November 22nd.
