Carrie Underwood and George Strait Will Choose 'American Idol' Finalists' Songs

Carrie Underwood and George Strait Will Choose 'American Idol' Finalists' Songs With the horrible, horrible song choices that the judges provided in the Top Three round of "American Idol," one shudders to think of what we'll have to listen to for the all-country finale showdown between Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. I can tell you that if there's any more "I Hope You Dance," I'm going to Hope I Die.

This should come as good news, then: Carrie Underwood and George Strait will be picking a couple of the songs for the finalists to sing this week. Of course, we're going to end up with more country, but it will at least be country chosen by country musicians. Country chosen by Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler was kind of a disaster.

Those two country stars were named by the finalists, Scotty and Lauren, as their own personal music idols. Underwood is an "American Idol" product herself, having won the fourth season of the show.

In addition to the song chosen by their idols, Scotty and Lauren will each reprise one of their favorite songs from the season and will perform a debut single bestowed upon them by the "American Idol" producers.
