Can 'Blindspot' Continue to Impress in Season 2?
by EG
Last season wasn't kind to every new TV series - just ask The Muppets - but one of NBC's freshman series last year rose to the top of the new crop of shows. Blindspot was the highest-rated new series on broadcast TV throughout the 2015-2016 season, and as it gets set to start its second season next week, it has some big expectations to live up to.
"We’re viewing season two as even more important than season one,” said show creator Martin Gero during last month's Television Critics Association press tour. “If you start watching [now], it‘ll be just as fun for you. We want to reward our loyal viewers and not alienate our casual ones."
The concern comes from the series' complex and mystery-filled story structure, which is still filled with holes, including the true identity of the show's tattoo-bedecked central character. Gero and company don't want new viewers to come to the show having missed out on a whole season's worth of hints only to feel lost and confused.
The show's producers promise that some important factual tidbits are going to be revealed during the upcoming season, including the real name of that enigmatic main character.
Blindspot premieres on NBC on Wednesday, September 14 at 10pm.
