Can It Be?! 'Arrested Development' to Return for One Season Before Movie

Can It Be?! 'Arrested Development' to Return for One Season Before Movie "Arrested Development" fans who happened to be following The New Yorker on Twitter may have been rubbing their eyes and looking twice at their feed today. The news just seems too good to be true.

A single tweet, sent out by by @NewYorker just before 2:00pm, said the following: "News @NewYorkerFest: Arrested Development coming back for one more TV season before movie."

I know I had to read that a few times before it fully registered in my head. I also had to check to make sure it wasn't coming from a fake New Yorker feed. Could it be that we'll not only get an "Arrested Development" movie, but also another whole season of the show?

Short answer: yes! It's true. You may commence jumping for joy.

The news comes out of the Arrested Development reunion panel featuring stars of the show and creator Mitch Hurwitz. Hurwitz noted that there will be a limited series, about 9 or 10 episodes, that will re-introduce the characters and lead in to the movie.

It's an interesting move, but one that makes a lot of sense considering the fact that the limited viewership for "Arrested Development" is what got it cancelled in the first place. It definitely has gathered a cult following since then, but the general public is still mostly unaware of what was one of the funniest TV comedies of the last decade.

More news and details as they come out of the New Yorker Fest panel.
