Caitlyn Jenner On How She Chose Her Name
by Shannon KeirnanEven Kim Kardashian's second pregnancy can't seem to derail the media train that is Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner.
Monday saw the release of Vanity Fair's July issue cover, with Caitlyn Jenner's first public appearance to mark her transition from a man to a woman.
The issue hits newsstands June 9th, so the world has to wait for Jenner's full interview, but we have all caught a glimpse of the Annie Leibovitz photography, and most can agree that she looks marvelous!
So there are some things we do know about the interview. For example, how Caitlyn came to be the woman Jenner now identifies with. Jenner opened to VF.com about how she settled on the name "Caitlyn."
"It's one of the hardest things in life - choosing your own name."
Jenner says she watched the Miss America pageant to get ideas of names, trying to find something that would fit. Other options were Heather and Cathy, but Caitlyn was the one that resonated with Jenner.
Jenner's assistant Rhonda, at one point, also suggested the name. Jenner replied, "I love that name too!" The coincidence helped Jenner make her final decision.
Interestingly, Jenner chose to spell Caitlyn with a "C" rather than a "K," breaking from the Kardashian/Jenner model. VF.com reports, "she decided it was best to break tradition, and the media associations that went with it."
Can't say we blame her.
What do you think of Jenner's choice? Does "Caitlyn" suit her?
