'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 3, Episode 8: 'Ava' Recap

Terry is going to investigate a case. His wife Sharon will by coming by, as they are planning to have a weekend away before the baby comes. Terry asks Jake to make sure she is comfortable if she gets there before he is back, and also to keep Holt away from her. Holt acts weird around Sharon and it stresses her out.

The internet is down so Holt asks Amy and Charles if they will do some paperwork by hand, despite it being Thanksgiving. They agree but are unprepared for the amount of paperwork this entails.

Gina is enlisted to help keep Holt away from Sharon. She and Jake manuever her away from Holt and hide her in the interrogation room. However her water breaks.

Terry can't get to her yet and she refuses to be brought to the hospital due to a terrible birth experience last round. Terry tells Jake to get a copy of their birth plan from his desk and to help her as much as he can until he can get back to the precinct.

Holt finds out what's going on and wants to help, and Jake is forced to admit that Sharon doesn't want him around. He's hurt.

Sharon's doula is out of town and Jake is struggling to keep her calm. All the backed up work is also making everyone else on-edge, and a fire breaks out when Hitchcock plugs in ten fax machines to the same outlet. Overwhelmed, Jake requests that Holt get his ex-boyfriend, an OBGYN, to assist.

Terry keeps encountering obstacles as he tries to make it to Sharon, like a train that has a delay.He and Rosa end up taking a police motorcycle to get them through the city, but he drops his phone.

Frederick, Holt's ex, says he will help but only if Holt admits he threw away his duck decoy when they moved in together. Holt swears he never will, since he did not, but Jake convinces him to lie.

Frederick thinks Sharon's blood pressure is too high and the environment terrible for birth, and suggests she go to a hospital. Worn out, Sharon consults Jake for his godhusband opinion. He brings her to the hospital. Terry, finally arriving, is furious.

Holt also admits he threw the decoy off a bridge, acting out during a bad relationship. Amy and Charles finish their paperwork.

Terry has a baby girl named Ava. He admits that taking Sharon to the hospital was the right idea and thanks Jake and everyone else for keeping things under control.
