'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 3, Episode 6: 'Into the Woods' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanThough Jake has pulled off an impressive (stunt-filled) arrest, Terry is mad about the extra paperwork it will cost him. He is stressed out and has no time at home with another kid on the way. To apologize, Jake and Amy do the paperwork, and get some time off for Terry. He and Charles are taking him on a trip.
Holt pulls Rosa aside - he suspects she is going to break up with Marcus, and he is correct. While he initially approves of Rosa's minimalist strategy for dumping Marcus, Kevin insists he work with her on ending it a little more... comfortingly. Holt does research and makes Rosa practice with him to try to help safeguard Marcus' emotions.
Terry is resistant to going to a cabin for a weekend, but Jake manages to convince him that he needs to relax.They go up to the cabin but fail at fishing, and then discover Jake didn't pack any food since he asssumed they would be catching fish.
Amy asks Gina for help with a pitch of a shoulder flashlight she invented as a kid. The presentation goes well but there's no interest in the product for use in the force. Angry, Gina shows it to a kid in her building who loves to read and tells Amy that she thought it was a great idea. Amy is touched.
Charles goes off to forage for food, and, five hours later, Jake and Terry go looking for him. They get lost.
Rosa breaks up with Marcus, but in being forced to talk about his emotions, her own surface. Relating the story to Holt, she cries. He is stunned.
Terry and Jake manage to find Charles, who has fallen into a sinkhole. In trying to rescue him they both fall in. Terry yells at Jake for always making people clean up his messes, and they spoon angrily through the night.
In the morning Jake has crawled out and into a tree. Covered with poison ivy he has spotted the way back to the cabin.
Holt apologizes to Rosa for his reaction to her crying and she explains that she worries she's missing her chance at love but she's not ready to marry Marcus. They both cry.
Terry admits he doesn't know how to have fun anymore, and lets Jake light off all the fireworks he bought instead of groceries.
