'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 3, Episode 2: 'Funeral' Recap

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 3, Episode 2: 'Funeral' Recap Driven by hatred for the Vulture, Jake decides to befriend him to help make working with him more palatable for everyone. However the Vulture overhears this plot and calls him out on it.

He punishes Jake by telling him to dump Amy or he will get bumped back down to a beat cop. Jake and Amy decide to consult Holt, who will be there visiting (on a PR basis) and see if he can use his sway to get the Vulture off of them.

The Vulture and Holt have an unpleasant interaction, however, which reminds Holt of his new place. So when Jake asks him for help, Holt refuses to get involved.

Everyone goes to the funeral for Dozerman, where Amy and Jake scheme to get rid of the Vulture by going to more superiors. Holt is legitimately depressed. He is realizing his days at the nine-nine are truly over.

Jake tries to get up to his superior to play the recording where the Vulture admits he is forcing him to dump Amy, but Dozerman's wife intervenes, and when she finds out who he is, kicks him out of the funeral. The Vulture also overhears and takes the phone with the recording, demoting Jake back to a beat cop.

At the wake, Holt gives a depressing speech, but Jake follows it with one of hope, aimed at Amy, who is again considering ending things because of all the complications.

Holt is moved and goes to the Vulture, offering him media attention and PR focus in exchange for leaving Amy and Jake alone.
