'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 3, Episode 15: 'The 9-8' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanA pipe bursts in the 9-8, which means the entire precinct gets moved to the 9-9 until the building is fixed. Jake runs into his first partner, Stevie. Charles experiences instant jealousy, which gets worse when Stevie recognizes their case and wants to get involved. Jake and Stevie convince Charles that he can be part of their tight-knit group, but then promptly forget him.
Everything is chaos with the 9-8 taking over. When Jake returns for Charles, Charles tells him he and Stevie can work the case together while he bonds with his new deskmate Paul. Jake promises they can be a team and that they'll all be equal if Charles comes back on the case with him. Things get tense when Charles and Stevie disagree about how to play their case.
Against Charles' judgment, they bust in on their perp, on advice from Stevie that he will have drugs on him. He doesn't. Their case is blown. However Charles points out someone he arrested there before, and Jake realizes that consorting with felons while on parole is a violation, which gives them cause to search their perp's house. Stevie find drugs.
Amy, Rosa, and Terry are losing their minds with the 9-8 there. They sneak equipment outside and set up an outdoor office. It's perfection, until Holt discovers them and demands they return inside and be gracious hosts.
Charles pulls Jake aside and tells him that Stevie planted the drugs. Jake trusts Charles and confronts Stevie, who admits he did plant the drugs. Jake is going to turn him in, so Stevie hits him. It turns into a fight and Charles joins in to defend Jake. The 9-8 starts joining too and an all-out brawl between the 9-8 and the 9-9 is underway.
In the confusion, Holt, who is equally fed up with everyone, breaks the radiator. They have to work without heat, but Stevie is turned in, and the 9-8 has to leave!
