'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 3, Episode 1: 'New Captain' Recap

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 3, Episode 1: 'New Captain' Recap The nine-nine is introduced to their new captain, Seth Dozerman, whose motto is "efficiency, efficiency, efficiency." He's a nut job and manages to have a small heart attack while yelling at them during the first meeting.

Jake and Amy decide to just keep their relationship light and breezy. Of course to Amy that means making a list of rules. They decide not to tell anyone or put labels on them right now. Amy also wants to wait to have sex.

Holt gets his reassignment, and finds the department less than effective, absorbed for months in trying to name their new pigeon mascot. It's Wuntch's perfect revenge.

Dozerman, recovered, gives everyone pads which count down 55 minutes for them to accomplish tasks and then screams at them if they don't finish in time. Everyone hates them.

Jake takes Amy on their first official date. It's awkward. They decide the solution is to get very drunk. This, of course, leads to them sleeping together. Everyone at work is pressing Jake to get information on his mystery girl, so he uses Dozerman to outlaw personal talk.

However Dozerman catches him and Amy making out in the evidence room, and Dozerman has a heart attack and dies. Terry wants to review the tapes to find out what startled him, and Amy and Jake are forced to admit they are fooling around.

It's too much stress for Amy, who decides they should call it off. Jake is hurt. He talks to Boyle, who tells him that trying to be "light and breezy" is what doomed them from the start. Boyle pushes Jake to go tell Amy how he feels, but as he is about to leave he finds her at the door. She takes back what she said - she wants to really go for it.

They get their new new captain... The Vulture. Everyone is horrified.
