'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 2, Episode 17: 'Boyle-Linetti Wedding' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanIt's the big day! Charles' dad and Gina's mom are tying the knot!
And, as seems to happen with most weddings, nothing is going right. Jake and Amy pick up the ring, but when Amy gets a tip on her nemesis, a counterfeiter who has evaded her for years, she and Jake track him to a warehouse, and manage to arrest him in an alley. This, of course, means that both need to be cleaned up before the wedding - especially Jake, who is eager to see the girl who broke his heart as a child, Jenny Gildenhorn. She is attending the wedding and Jake's flame for her has never gone out.
The priest who was supposed to officiate has dropped out, so Gina enlists Terry to step in... however Terry is proving too emotional for the job. Gina passes it over to Holt, who, while able to be stoic, can't seem to put together a nice speech. His own wedding was rushed and had no time for fluffy love stuff and can't draw on that.
Rosa, who has not brought Marcus to the wedding because it might get too emotional, preps Lynn Boyle for his walk down the aisle, but sends him into a panic instead.
Jake realizes he has lost the ring, and he and Amy have to dig through trash to find it again. Amy does, and fake proposes - and then the ring gets stuck on Jake's finger. Terry manages to pull it off, while Jake sees the girl of his dreams, Jenny, making out with another guest at the wedding.
Rosa gets Charles and Gina to come help her with Lynn. Gina reminds Lynn that he is not a coward, and that is why her mom loves him. Lynn goes through with the wedding. Rosa realizes she is afraid of committing to Marcus, and invites him to tell him that she loves him.
Holt manages a decent ceremony, seeing his husband Kevin in the crowd and saying all the things he wished could have been said at their wedding. The two decide maybe they should hold a real ceremony for themselves.
Though Jenny Gildenhorn has yet again broken Jake's heart, Amy comes through to make him smile, by foisting an older woman off on him after suggesting a dance.
