'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Recap: Season 3, Episode 16: 'House Mouses'
by Shannon KeirnanA high-profile celebrity was robbed in their precinct. However Holt can't disclose any information except to the detective on the case. Obviously Jake wants the case, but he already has one, and Terry gives it to Charles.
Jake wants to give his case to Scully and Hitchcock so he can help Charles, but Terry disapproves, saying the pair only work cases where they can stay in the building. Jake takes the two out for lunch to convince them they can take his drug case. They give in.
Amy asks Rosa why she won't sign up for the blood drive and finds out that Rosa is afraid of needles. Gina admits she has a fear also, of businessman, and Amy is claustrophobic. Amy suggests they all face something they're afraid of that day, and surprisingly both Rosa and Gina agree.
Holt takes Charles aside to fill him in on the case, and Charles is excited to work with a celebrity... until he finds out he's a world-renowned oboist. Holt is a huge fan and makes an excuse to work with Charles. Terry comes to tell Jake what's happened - his celebrity is boring, but the pot bust Jake made actually links to a major drug ring. The case he just hoisted onto Scully and Hitchcock is a huge deal.
Both are missing, however, along with the evidence from the case. Jake and Terry take off to find them. They find Scully on a bench, setting up a sting. A disaster sting. Terry declares they must stop it immediately, but Hitchcock's pride is stung by their lack of faith in him and he wants to go through with the plan.
Charles and Holt go to speak to the oboist whose oboe has been stolen, and Holt gets hilariously star-struck. Later, Holt and the oboist are on friendly terms; he has brought a copy of his book to the precinct for Holt. Charles informs Holt that the $40,000 oboe is for sale online and they traced it back to the oboist, who is under arrest. Holt admits he was behaving foolishly, and buys Charles a drink to thank him for solving the case. Also there is apparently no money in classical music.
Rosa and Gina lock Amy in a car truck for a while to let her overcome her fear of small spaces. It hasn't cured her but she's proud of herself. Next, Gina faces her fear of businessmen by walking amongst them at a cafe and making drab small talk. Inspired, Rosa is able to give blood in her own screaming angry Rosa fashion.
Terry and Jake accompany Hitchcock to watch Scully meet with the drug ring. Unarmed. They watch as he is hooded and dragged into a vehicle. They follow him and sneak into a weed farm and watch Scully get slapped around. They go in to try and bluff, but they're surrounded and tied up in chairs.
Jake uses Scully and Hitchcock's strengths - sending Scully (in his rolling chair) up stairs, and Hitchcock's sweating to free himself from the chair - to help them escape. They are able to bring down the drug ring. Terry thanks them but secretly vows neither will work in the field again.
