Britney Spears/'The X Factor' Announcement At FOX Up Fronts?
by Sean ComerOK, so Simon Cowell's alleged break-the-Brintney-news-on-"American Idol" plan perhaps didn't pan out. This looks just as good, if it's true.
Britney Spears will apparently be spending her Saturday in New York, according to TMZ. She's reportedly there because FOX executives will make their announcement at FOX Up Fronts to announce her official deal as a the final replacement judge for the second season of "The X Factor". She and Disney-developed young pop star Demi Lovato would replace the departed Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, who left the show this past January along with host Steve Jones.
TMZ claims that Spears' deal isn't quite finalized, but that only a few minor details remain. The pop can't legally sign the deal herself, so it will instead be made official by her conservators, Jamie Spears and fiancé Jason Trawick. Spears will be there reportedly just so that her personal appearance can boost publicity for the show.
In a move that can't be seen as anything short of sticking it to his old show, it was rumored earlier this week that "The X Factor" judge and creator Cowell wanted to officially introduce Spears as joining the show on the "American Idol" season finale. Fellow original "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson took some shots at Cowell's show this past January, noting to the Television Critics Association that the show's ratings were probably beneath Cowell's expectations and calling the show an "imitator."
