Britney Spears and Demi Lovato Officially Signed for 'X Factor' Gig: See the Judges Together
by Andy NeuenschwanderAfter months of rumors that tossed around a long list of names, the two new female judges for next season of "The X Factor" have been decided: at FOX's upfront presentation, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato appeared in person to confirm that they are both on board.
Spears has been rumored for a while now to be in line for the job, but apparenty negotiations were pretty lengthy. Spears' contract ended up being worth $15 million for the season, though any luxury travel expenses will be taken out of her pay. Still, that's not a bad chunk of change for a first-timer on a reality competition panel, and it roughly matches what Jennifer Lopez made last year on "American Idol."
Lovato may have been a late add, as her name came up only about a week ago. That may have been because of Spears' contract taking up money: while Spears is making $15 million, Lovato has signed on for just $1 million for the season. However, at 19 years old and only a fraction of Spears' celebrity, that makes some sense.
Spears and Lovato are of course replacing the ousted Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, who peeved fans last year by waffling on big decisions and generally being too nice for the job. Fans have proven to be fairly judgemental of the judges, so Spears and Lovato certainly have their work cut out for them.
