'Bridgerton' Fan Auditions are Spicy

The hit Netflix series Bridgerton doesn't shy away from being steamy in its sex scenes, but the steaminess is encouraging some fans to make pitches to the show's casting director that might be going a little too far. Read on for details.

“Bridgerton” casting director Kelly Valentine Hendry recently appeared on the “Should I Delete That?” podcast (via US Weekly) and revealed that her inbox is getting spammed with tons of “unsolicited” fan auditions for Season 4 of the Netflix romance series.

“It’s every day … I get the most unbelievable videos, unsolicited,” Hendry said. “It’s sex basically. It’s not actual sex but it’s quite punchy. It’s not nude pictures, but not far off.”

According to the casting director, her inbox is always “90 percent” full of emails from fans seeking a part on “Bridgerton.” She revealed that at the moment many fans are gunning for the role of Sophie Beckett, who in the “Bridgerton” novels is the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson on the Netflix series). The team behind the show has not yet confirmed what love story will be the central focus for Season 4. One female fan sent Hardy an audition tape wearing a period costume so big that it was large enough to hang off “scaffolding.”

Given “Bridgerton” is known for its steamy sex scenes, it’s not too shocking to hear some fans think an X-rated audition tape would be their ticket to land a role on the show. The show’s third season debuted this summer and centered on the love story between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Coughlan even asked to be naked on screen during the season in order to silence her body-shamers.
