Bret Michaels Undergoes Heart Surgery; O' Campo Wields a Pimp Cup

Bret Michaels, Poison frontman and “Celebrity Apprentice” champion, underwent successful cardiac surgery to close a hole in his heart Monday.

After suffering a brain hemorrhage in April and spending almost two weeks in the hospital, doctors discovered the hole, which is medically known as a patent foramen ovale.

The condition is thought to have caused his stroke, and if left untreated, can lead to blood clots and additional strokes.

During surgery, a closure device was inserted into his heart that serves to stop abnormal blood flow between the heart's chambers. Officials from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix told the Associated Press that Michaels is recuperating in intensive care.

Catching a Quick Playoff Game Before Going Under the Knife

Luckily, Michaels, a known Steelers fan, likely had an opportunity to catch Sunday’s playoff game against the Jets before undergoing surgery. The winner of last year's edition of “The Celebrity Apprentice” is known for his power ballad “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and most recently has been seen starring in “VH1's Life as I Know It.”

In other Bret Michaels’ related news, former "Rock of Love " Contestant Brittanya O’Campo has begun a 6-month jail sentence for felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor battery.

In 2008, the tattooed brunette with the cheek piercings reportedly assaulted a woman with a “pimp chalice” – or what reporters are also calling a “pimp cup.”

Those who watched O’Campo on the show’s third season, may recall her elimination after spitting and taking swings at first-season "Rock of Love" runner-up Heather Chadwell.
