'Breaking Bad' Finale Reaction: What Did Fans Think?
by EGThe super-hyped final episodes of beloved TV series tend to disappoint fans once the episodes finally air—just ask fans of "Lost" and "The Sopranos"—but "Breaking Bad" seems to have escaped that fate. The reaction to Sunday's series finale appears to be overwhelmingly positive.
"Breaking Bad" had become the most talked-about show on TV as it wound down its run over the past couple of months, and its final episode couldn't have been much more highly anticipated. Fans set up Facebook groups to collect theories about how it all would end, and every entertainment news source on the planet joined in the speculation. The hype was almost certain to set up dashed hopes when the episode hit the air.
But it seems that didn't happen. Twitter was awash in love for the episode, and just about the only thing expressed that wasn't sincere admiration for the finale was the common ironic fake-spoiler gag (Walt turned out to be a woman (or a dragon), Skyler hooked up with Michael J. Fox, Jesse goes on to star in a new series called "Braking Bad" (or "Need for Speed")).
The most common reaction among fans—aside from awe at the excellent-ness of the episode—was sadness at having to face a world without "Breaking Bad." What do fans do now? They could sit around and wait for the spin-off series starring Saul. Or they could start watching some of the new shows on the broadcast networks that have gone largely unwatched to this point; we hear that "Lucky 7" is looking for some viewers.
