'Breaking Bad' Creator Wants to Do a Spin-Off
by Andy NeuenschwanderAs excited as we are for the return of "Breaking Bad" on Sunday, it does mean that the series is coming to a close. The show's creator Vince Gilligan has said all along that "Breaking Bad" is a show with an expiration date on it, as Walt's path of self-destruction has to lead somewhere. If the cancer doesn't get him, something else probably will.
So the fifth season will be the last. Definitely. End of story. But what about a spin-off?
"I would love to see a Saul Goodman spin-off show when it’s all said and done," Gilligan said in an interview with EW. "While Breaking Bad is by design a show that is finite and limited in its scope — it’s a story of transformation that cannot go on forever — I think a Saul Goodman show could have great legs."
How about it, "Breaking Bad" fans? Would you watch a Saul Goodman spin-off? Think about it: it could be a procedural and Saul could take on a new case each week, all the while trying to weasel his way out of whichever horribly planned criminal act he's gotten himself caught up with.
Considering that Saul gets all the best lines ("You two... If I ever have anal polyps, I'll know what to name them"), he's already halfway there. I mean, the guy even has his own website.
