Breaking: 40-Year-Old Virgin Actor Shelley Malil Gets Life in Prison for Stabbing

Shelley Malil of The 40-Year Old Virgin ConvictedShelley Malil – who starred with Steve Carell in The 40-Year-Old Virgin – convicted of attempted murder in September for the gruesome stabbing of his girlfriend in San Diego.  
 
Malil stabbed ex-girlfriend Kendra Beebe more than 20 times. This marks the end to a terrible event that left Beebe with life long scars to remind her of the event.
 
On Thursday Malil, 45, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility for parole, reports NBC San Diego.  The maximum sentence handed down comes more than two years after the actor was arrested for the brutal attack in Vista, Calif.
 
"I stand before the defendant alive," Beebe testified. "Despite plunging a knife in me 23 times and trying to kill me, I am alive. Despite the wicked scars he left on my body, I am alive." 
 
That night, the defendant was a monster," Beebe's mother, Laurey Manning, said. "She didn't deserve this, but I am so grateful that I can hug her." 
 
Malil will be eligible for parole in 10 years. For now, Malil told the court that he is "at a loss for words." 
 
"I failed miserably, not only as a human being, but as a father, son, uncle, brother, friend," he said. "What I did to Kendra – I don't have the words to express my remorse."
