Bradley Cooper Rumored for Remake of 'The Crow'

The news has certainly be stirring this week surrounding a proposed remake of "The Crow" by Relativity. Just a few days ago, it was announced that "28 Weeks Later" director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo would be directing the film, and now Hollywood Reporter says that Bradley Cooper is in talks to play the lead.

The original "The Crow" was made in 1993, with Brandon Lee, son of legendary martial arts master and actor Bruce Lee, in the lead role. Sadly, Lee was killed in an on-set accident with a dummy bullet, and the series never truly recovered from the loss: a few sequels were made over the next decade, but none were well-received critically or commercially.

For those unfamiliar with the story, "The Crow" is based on a series of comic books by James O'Barr. It focuses on rock guitarist Eric Draven, who is murdered along with his fiancée by thugs. Draven is later revived so that he may take revenge on those who ended his life.

Cooper is an interesting choice for the role. He certainly has the looks to play the usually-handsome Draven, but the character is one of the darker and more brooding figures in comic book (and film) lore. Of the many roles we've seen Cooper play thus far, few if any can be considered dark and brooding.

If he is cast, it will answer a question I'm sure all of us have asked: what would Bradley Cooper look like with gothic mime makeup on?
