Will Brad Pitt's Zombie Thriller 'World War Z' Be a Trilogy?

Among the many holiday movie releases at the end of 2012 will be a delightful, feel-good film called "World War Z," which imagines a world overrun by zombies after an outbreak. Merry apocalypse, everyone!

The movie, which stars Brad Pitt, should prove to be an excellent addition to the long history of zombie cinema, especially considering the scope and scale of the epic flick. In fact, Paramount thinks so highly of "World War Z" already that it may just expand the one movie into three.

Yes, rumor has it that Paramount is considering a "World War Z" trilogy, putting Brad Pitt at the head of the franchise (assuming his character doesn't get bitten at any point). This could open up the epic scope of the film even more, as the story can be unraveled across three whole movies at least.

However, one has to wonder if there's enough source material to cover this. "World War Z" is based on a book of the same title, which the movie already seems to be veering away from. In the end, fans of the book might end up getting a Hollywood version of the story that includes new character histories not covered in the book.
