Brad Pitt Backs Off Three Year Retirement Deadline

When Brad Pitt told a reporter for the Australian "60 Minutes" that he would be retiring from acting in three years to focus on his family and producing films, it was a bit surprising, though also understandable given the large (and potentially growing) family he and wife Angelina Jolie have started.

Now, though, Pitt is backing off the hard and fast retirement date, though he says he does see an end to his acting scene in sight.

"I wasn't actually putting an exact deadline on my expiration date [in Australia's 60 Minutes interview], but I see it coming," Pitt told reporters at a press conference in South Korea, according to Us Weekly.

"I just have other interests and I do quite enjoy the production side," said Pitt.

While he's not entirely certain to retire on his fiftieth birthday (Pitt is 47), he did acknowledge that the five children he and Angelina Jolie have (Maddox, 10, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 5, and Vivienne and Knox, 3) impact every decision he makes about his career.

"I think certainly, being a father has changed everything for me as far as perspective and interest, taking care of myself and wanting to be around for them," said Pitt.

Of course, shifting to a producing role doesn't mean the end for Pitt on the Hollywood scene. Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford are comparable examples of legendary leading men who started their careers drawing attention based on their obvious sex appeal, and gone on to become highly respected and critically celebrated filmmakers. Of course none of them left the acting game quite so early.

Do you think Brad Pitt has what it takes to become as big of a legend behind the camera as he is in front of it?
