Bond is Back, Baby! Sony and MGM to Co-Finance next 'James Bond' Film

It was just almost exactly a year ago to the day that production on the 23rd James Bond movie, currently referred to as "Bond 23," was postponed indefinitely. In this case, "indefinitely" meant "a year," because Sony and MGM have struck a deal to make "Bond 23" happen!

The two studios will co-finance the film, and production will move forward. The original delay was thought to be a result of financial woes at MGM, but with this deal those problems are in the past. It will still be quite a while until we see the film, though, as the current target release date is November 9th, 2012.

If all goes as planned, this will be the third movie with Daniel Craig as James Bond. Scheduling will be tricky as Craig is currently cast in the "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" series, but the official press release about the Sony/MGM deal explicitly states that the blonde Bond will be reprising the role once more.

Additionally, MGM and Sony are already planning on releasing "Bond 24" in a similar fashion, through a co-financing deal. The two studios might team up on other endeavors currently on each of the studios' dockets.
