Bobby Brown Officially Slapped With Drunk-Driving Charge

Bobby Brown DUI Mug Shot Bobby Brown's tour with New Edition is probably the least of his concerns right now.

The late Whitney Houston's ex-husband and New Edition's co-founder was charged Wednesday in Los Angeles with two drunk driving-related offenses and one charge of driving with a suspended license following a Monday night arrest, the Associated Press reported. Tiffany Feder, Brown's attorney, didn't immediately return the AP's request for a comment, but reportedly denied earlier Wednesday that Brown had been driving unsafely.

California Highway Patrol claims that officers stopped Brown Monday afternoon because he was using a cellphone with a hands-free accessory, but that the singer then failed a field sobriety test. His blood-alcohol content allegedly measured above .08, putting Brown officially in the "driving under the influence" category.

"Mr. Brown is taking this matter seriously and an investigation is under way," Feder said via released statement before Brown's charges were processed. "The legal process shall run its course."

Brown famously struggled alongside Houston with the pair's mutual addictions, particularly to alcohol and cocaine as Houston described in interviews years prior to her death this past February. He was released from jail without having to post bail, but could spend six months in jail if convicted of the DUI charge.
