'Blurred Lines' Singer Robin Thicke and Wife Paula Patton Split Up

A note to married men: This is what happens when you get Instagrammed squeezing another woman's butt.

"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" star Paula Patton and "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke have split up, according to reports. The split ends an eight-year marriage between the two celebrities.

In some ways, the split is a surprise: Patton and Thicke appeared recently together at the Grammys, where they seemed happy and smiling together.

However, trouble may have been brewing for a while. Months ago, an Instagram photo of the singer posing with a mystery girl (later revealed to be Lana Scolaro) surfaced. At first glance, the pic isn't much...but a closer look revealed that Thicke was grabbing the girl's butt.

Patton never voiced concern about that scandal in particular, so that might not have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Maybe it was the racy "Blurred Lines" video in all its misogynistic glory and rape-culture lyrics. Perhaps it was Thicke grinding on the barely-legal Miley Cyrus during the MTV VMA's.

Thicke and Patton have one son from their marriage: Julian, age three.

As recently as last June, Thicke said in an interview that he and Patton were "madly, crazily in love." But he also described their relationship as a "functional, dysfunctional" one, so there may have been trouble in paradise that far back.

Thus far, neither Patton nor Thicke have released an official statement.
