TV Preview: Blindspot is Shrouded in Mystery

NBC's Blindspot is one of the most anticipated new series of the fall season, probably because of its unusual concept. Under all the ink on star Jaimie Alexander's skin, however, the show is essentially a police procedural.

In the series opener, police discover a big, suspicious duffle bag in Times Square, and in the bag they find a naked woman (Alexander, who previously appeared as Lady Sif in Thor) whose body is covered in tattoos. The tattoos are important because the woman doesn't remember who she is, and the authorities assume that the tattoos hold the key to her identity.

Mysteriously, one of the tattoos is the name of FBI agent Kurt Weller, played by Sullivan Stapleton (Strike Back), and because of this, Stapleton is put in charge of figuring out who this Jane Doe really is. Eventually, Weller - and the audience - discover that each tattoo is a clue to solving a crime of the week, and that Jane Doe is part of some larger, shadowy conspiracy, as suggested by the amazing intellectual and physical abilities that she keeps unexpectedly displaying.

Blindspot premieres on September 21 on NBC following The Voice.
