Billy Crystal 'A Little Itchy' to Host Oscars Again

Billy Crystal 'A Little Itchy' to Host Oscars Again With all the criticism that surrounded last February's poor, unassuming Oscar hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco, this year's producer Brett Ratner must be feeling the pressure to find just the right host. Well, you know how the old saying goes, don't you? If your Oscar host ain't broke, don't fix him?

Eight-time Oscar host Billy Crystal has revealed that he might be an option for another stab at The Academy Awards emcee gig.

It was during Crystal's appearance in the last telecast that he realized he missed it: "They had called and said would you do this thing and honor Bob Hope... I did it, and people wanted to see me, they stood up, and I couldn't talk for about a minute," Crystal said, referencing the long standing ovation the crowd at the Oscars gave him. "And, um, I got a little itchy."

Crystal added that hosting the show is "always fun" but also "really hard," and admitted that he would be game to host "maybe one or two more times."

Considering the reaction the audience gave him earlier this year, that might not be a bad idea. Of course, at that point the audience seemed thrilled to have anyone other than Franco and Hathaway up there talking.

Crystal's getting up there in years, but that's not to say he can't handle the gig. Maybe he'll do a little less dancing than before (Crystal was known for his big musical medleys), but it might be nice to have a host that actually enjoys being there.
