Bill Pullman Reprises 'Independence Day' Role, Plays President in New TV Sitcom Nearly a decade later, Bill Pullman is ready to revisit a role he has played once before: the President of the United States. But this time won't be quite the same tone as in "Independence Day."

Pullman has been cast as the president in NBC's new comedy "1600 Penn." The show is NBC's latest single-camera comedy endeavor, this time focusing on a dysfunctional First Family in the White House. So far, the cast of the show looks pretty great: Pullman is on as president, and he is joined by "Harry's Law" regular Brittany Snow and "Book of Mormon" star Josh Gad, who will play his children.

Furthermore, the project has Jason Winer, director of "Modern Family," backing it as a producer and directing the pilot episode. Given the level of quality he brings to "Modern Family," that should mean good things for the chances of this pilot being picked up to series.

Now, if only there were some psychic aliens and Jeff Goldblum involved, somehow...
