Big Boi Behind Bars?

Sorry Miss Jackson, these drugs aren't for real? For the sake of future Outkast albums, we sure hope so.

Legendary hip-hop artist (and half of the dynamic rap group Outkast) Big Boi has reportedly been arrested on drug charges after being busted by border patrol and custom agents after getting off of a cruise ship with powdered MDMA, Ecstasy pills and non-prescribed Viagra.

According to MTV, the rapper was "on vacation between Puerto Rico and Grand Turk Island over the past few days" when the bust occurred.

The Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department said Big Boi (real name Antwan André Patton) has been charged with one count of drug possession and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

According to CNN, the county said all of the charges will be considered felonies (?!) and Big Boi is reportedly being held on a $16,000 bond at a "pre-trial detention facility" (aka jail) in Miami.

Big Boi's spokesperson released a statement saying:

"While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated."

Big Boi has recently been touring in support of his 2010 album "Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty," and has been rumored to have reunited with Outkast cohort Andre 3000 for a possible return to the studio for Outkast. Will this recent drug bust shelve plans for an Outkast reunion?

We can only hope that Big Boi's rep is right, that it's a big misunderstanding, and that he exits this situation feeling so fresh and so clean so we can hear more great albums from one of hip-hop's most innovative and exciting acts.
