Big Bang Wedding: It's Going to Happen

We've been waiting a long time for Leonard and Penny to get together for good on The Big Bang Theory, and in the season 9 premiere of the show, it's going to happen, definitely and for real.

The series' showrunner, Steve Molaro, told The Hollywood Reporter recently that he wanted to quell any fan fears that the couple might not make it to the altar in the end, especially since last season ended with some tension between the pair.

"We didn't want fans to feel like, 'Oh, they're going to pull the rug again and not do it,'" Molaro said. "There is so much more story beyond that moment that we decided to just let people know."

Molaro might want to head off fears that Big Bang could go the way of another CBS series, How I Met Your Mother, which infamously alienated fans with a disappointing twist in its finale.

That's not going to happen here, though. Leonard and Penny are going to get married, and it's going to happen in the first episode of season 9, which airs on September 21. After the wedding, things will probably go back to being a rollercoaster for the couple, but we know that we can count on at least one episode of matrimonial bliss.
