'Big Bang Theory' Coming to an End?
by EGYou don't have to go into mourning just yet, but you should know that "The Big Bang Theory" showrunner Steve Molaro is already got the end of the series in sight. Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter this week that the last season of the show that CBS has ordered could be the last season of the show, period.
The network announced recently that it wants the show back for three more seasons—its eighth, ninth and tenth—and Molaro thinks it might be time to hang it up after the current deal ends. As it stands now, Molaro sees the series as open-ended, but he's pragmatic about the future.
"You never know," he said when asked if the tenth season will be the last. "I'm going to move forward along with [co-creator] Chuck [Lorre] that 10 is the end unless we're told otherwise."
Molaro also warns that the current season will end with a cliffhanger that doesn't have anything to do with any of the major characters (which would seem to make it a less-than-compelling cliffhanger). So we have to assume the plan is for all the main cast members to return next year, although none of them has yet signed a contract that covers the next three seasons.
