Hairpocalypse Now: Bieber Gets a Big Trim; Jennifer Aniston Joins Hair Cutting Trend

It was the source of Samson’s strength. Willow Smith likes to whip hers. And when Justin Bieber chopped his Monday, he lost a rumored 80,000 Twitter fans.

His hair, now being auctioned off for charity, was sculpted on Monday into a new form by stylist Vanessa.

Bieber explained that he wanted a change. That it had been in his eyes for 3 ½ years.

“I didn’t want it in my face,” Bieber said. “I just wanted to change it up.”

He also said his fans would get used to it, but apparently not all of them.

It’s been rumored that an 80,000 fans unfollowed Bieber on Twitter, but sources can’t point to the exact number of fans he had pre-H.C. (Hair Cut). He currently has 7,525,807 followers.

“yeah so it’s true…i got a lil haircut…i like it…and we are giving all the hair cut to CHARITY to auction. Details coming soon…” Justin Tweeted after he breaking the news on TMZ Live.

Taking some of the hair headlines off Bieber’s back, Jennifer Aniston – known for her famous “Rachel Hair” – is rocking a spanking new bob in a lighter shade of blonde.

Clearly, hair matters. But why? According to Arizona State University sociologist Rose Weitz hair (or the lack of) plays a fundamental role in our lives for three reasons.

"It is personal, growing directly out of our bodies," she said. "It is public, on view for all to see. And it is malleable, allowing us to change it more or less at whim. As a result, it's not surprising that we use our hair to project our identity and that others see our hair as a reflection of our identity.”
