Beyonce to Perform at Halftime During the Super Bowl?

Oh, heck yeah! Anyone else excited?

Confirming the speculation, “Dreamgirls” star and super singer Beyoncé has posted a picture of herself to Tumblr. In the photo, the red-lipped lady is sporting eye blacks that read “Feb 3” on one and “2013,” on the other cheek, indicating that she will be the half-time entertainment in next year’s Super Bowl!

The NFL also tweeted a confirmation, in case we couldn’t figure it out.

“Beyonce will perform @pepsi #SB47 Halftime Show in New Orleans. Feb. 3 2013 on @cbs.”

Aside from Madonna, Beyoncé will be the first female soloist to perform since the fateful Janet Jackson wardrobe “misfunction.” Madonna hit the stage last year, alongside collaborators CeeLo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and M.I.A.

She’ll be following in the footsteps of greats like The Who, Tom Petty, Prince, The Black Eyed Peas, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, U2, and Bruce Springsteen.

This will be the 31-year-old’s first Super Bowl half-time experience, but in 2004 she sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in her home town of Houston to rave reviews. She also happens to have 16 Grammy awards under her belt, in case you’re wondering.

Gossip about who will be joining the strong-lunged diva on-stage is running rampant. Husband Jay-Z is reportedly in the running, as well as former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

The Super Bowl is set for Feb. 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

What do you think of the choice of artist for half time? Hit or miss?
