Betty White Speaks About Cecil The Lion's Death: 'How Could Someone Do That?'

Betty White Speaks About Cecil The Lion's Death: 'How Could Someone Do That?' The death of an iconic lion in Zimbabwe has stirred up major emotion across the globe.

Cecil the lion was lured from his wildlife preserve with bait, shot with a crossbow, and tracked for 40 hours before he was killed with a gun. The lion was beheaded, and his tracking collar partially destroyed. A dentist from Minnesota is claiming responsibility for Cecil's death, claiming that he was unaware that the lion was hunted illegally.

Not good enough for "Hot In Cleveland" star Betty White, a major animal activist, who is adding her angry voice to the din.

"You don't want to hear some of the things I want to do to that man," the 93-year-old actress told The Associated Press.

"It's such a heartbreaker. You can't even talk about it, and to see this king of the jungle and personifying it in every way, this gorgeous creature. How can somebody do that?"

White was promoting a block of programming in August on Discovery Family Channel called "Pawgust." "Pawgust" will feature shows, specials and movies about animals, with White serving as the host.

"Anything that promotes positive animal knowledge or talk I'm all for," said White of her involvement, saying she has loved animals "since the womb."

With Zimbabwe calling on the U.S. to extradite the man responsible, White may not get a chance to enact her revenge.

However, the dentist Walter Palmer, who previously said in a statement he had every indication of cooporating with law enforcement regarding his involvement in Cecil's death, is currently nowhere to be found.
