'Better Call Saul' Will Time-Jump, Could Include Multiple 'Breaking Bad' Cameos
by Andy NeuenschwanderThis. Changes. Everything.
Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan, series creators of the "Breaking Bad" spin-off "Better Call Saul," have confirmed that "Better Call Saul" isn't really a true prequel to "Breaking Bad," as everyone thought it was going to be. In fact, the "Saul" narrative will jump around in time, and could include the sly lawyer's experiences before, during and after the events of the source show.
In other words, we could be seeing brand-new performances from Bryan Cranston as Walter White in "Better Call Saul."
Gilligan hasn't confirmed any cameos yet, and the plot of the show remains a pretty well-kept secret, so everything is just speculation at this point. However, this does open up major opportunities to bring the likes of Jesse Pinkman, Gus Fring, Mike Ehrmantraut, and other fan favorites from "Breaking Bad" back onto the air.
The show is already off to a great start, even though it has yet to premiere: AMC has given the spin-off a renewal for a second season well before the pilot has even aired. That means there will be 26 total episodes, 13 per season, all but guaranteed.
However, the series premiere of "Better Call Saul" has also been pushed back to early 2015 from its original November 2014 premiere date, so fans will have to wait a bit longer before learning about Saul Goodman's misadventures in Albuquerque...and before learning who else might show up.
