'Better Call Saul,' the 'Breaking Bad' Spinoff, Releases First Teaser

'Better Call Saul,' the 'Breaking Bad' Spinoff, Releases First Teaser It won't hit the air until February of 2015, but buzz about the "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" is already hot.

Over the weekend fans got to see the first 10-second teaser clip of the upcoming AMC show during a "Breaking Bad" marathon.

In the short clip, Bob Odenkirk, who plays Saul Goodman, explains to a client, "Lawyers. We're like health insurance - you hope you never need it, but man oh man, not having it? No!"

In the clip Saul looks younger than "Breaking Bad" fans are used to seeing him, and sports a full head of hair... possibly because show co-creator Vince Gilligan has set the show largely as a "period piece" that starts in 2002.

The show will move around in "nonlinear storytelling," much like its parent series.

"We like jumping around in time," he told the Hollywood Reporter. "I would definitely point you in the direction of anything that was possible storytelling-wise on 'Breaking Bad' is possible on 'Better Call Saul.'"

He added, "I hesitate to say it, but it is indeed a period piece. I can't believe it myself - like it was yesterday, but it was 12 years ago."

Gilligan also took responsibility for the show's delay. Originally it was set to air in November of his year. "We could have made the deadline, but I am slow as mud. I still feel I'm very slow for television."

If "slow" equates to producing the same quality fans show have come to expect from "Breaking Bad," "Better Call Saul" viewers can certainly appreciate a few extra months.
