Being John Malkovich - Review

Being John Malkovich” was released worldwide in the year 1999. The story of this movie is based on an out of work man (the role is played by John Cusack). The man gets a job of a filling clerk and clamped to the 7 ½ floor of an office building and comes across a membranous room for 15 minutes that leads him to the life and mind of screen and stage actor John Malkovich. Through the room, he can see the life through the eyes of Malkovich’s eyes. After that he is thrown out of the room to the New Jersey Turnpike. But he then rents the head of Malkovich to others. In that time a lady falls in love with him and thinks that she has fallen love with John Malkovich.

“Being John Malkovich” is an exception of today’s cookie cutter movies. Though the theme of the movie looks familiar, the presentation style of this movie is very fresh and new and this way the movie looks very innovative. Director Spike Jonze has displayed a good sense of style in this movie. The screenplay of this movie is clever as well as funny. Some jokes of this movie are of big laughs but some are the examples of dumb humors and cheap shots.

Overall “Being John Malkovich” is a well balanced movie. It is a perfect example of smart comedy instead of false cheap jokes which prefer laughs instead of having any depth. The movie is full of contemplation material along with the laughter.
